Major infrastructure work on track at Diyar

MANAMA: Leading urban developer Diyar Al Muharraq has announced key infrastructure updates on the Diyar Al Muharraq master-planned island city.

The company yesterday said three major roads within the development have been completed leading to increased accessibility for visitors and residents.

It said BD27 million has been spent to build an integrated multi-lane highway network that is approximately 17-km-long in total.

By the end of the year, Diyar Al Muharraq will start building a bridge that will link the southern and northern islands.

Along with the developments integrated and advanced telephony and data services, Diyar Al Muharraq has laid 10km of its overall fibre network which will provide faster connection to its residents.

This is being done in conjunction with Batelco.

On the sewerage aspect, the developer said a deep gravity sewer costing about BD18m will be completed by the end of the month.

The sewer will be capable of serving 60,000 residents in the southern side of the development.

Diyar Al Muharraq chief executive Dr Maher Al Shaer said updates on the latest infrastructure work are meant to highlight the company’s efforts in completing all projects in a timely manner.

“It also reflects our endeavour in providing residents with the best infrastructure services, including telecommunications, roads, electricity and water, and sewerage networks.”

Eight primary substations at various locations across the development have been built and are already supplying to projects on its southern side.

The primary power network’s cost has reached BD50m to date.

The company said it is preparing to build the first primary substation in the northern part of the development.
