Forum focus on RegTech industry

MANAMA: Bahrain FinTech Bay (BFB) will host the launch edition of a conference next month that will focus on the regulatory technology (RegTech) industry.

A statement yesterday said the one-day event called RegFact will bring together leaders in the regulatory technology industry to discuss the Bahrain Regulatory Landscape, regulation transformation, adoption and implementation within the region.

Being held under the patronage of the Central Bank of Bahrain, the conference will take place on February 25 at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence and Spa, from 8am to 4pm.

Dedicated exclusively to the regulation and compliance ecosystem, it targets regulators, senior executives responsible for risk, compliance, financial institutions, technology vendors, and industry thought leaders and consultants.

BFB chief executive Khalid Al Saad said the aim is to provide a platform to financial services players where they can discuss insightful perspectives on regulatory compliance in a collaborative, open and transparent manner.

“We expect to see discussions on the Bahrain Regulatory Landscape, regulation innovation and adoption within the region, and much more.”

RegFact will include interactive panels, speakers, country case studies, and an in-depth technical and business training track.

Explaining the concept of RegTech, Mr Al Saad said it is the intersection of regulations and technology, and is not only standardising regulation but also increasing transparency, consistency and lowering cost.

It is transforming not only financial services but industries overall globally.

“With RegFact, we aim to make sense of this transformation and what it means to you,” he added.
