He noted that the expansion of agricultural development projects aligns with the King’s directives and the government’s strategic vision to foster innovative initiatives that enhance agricultural production, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Shaikh Mohammed praised the important role of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of the King and Chair of the Advisory Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development, in launching initiatives that enhance capabilities and promote creativity and excellence in agricultural development.
Shaikh Mohammed was briefed by Mr Al Mubarak on the hydroponics project’s operations and its use of modern agricultural methods and tools.
He viewed a video screening on the project and the launch of the Bahrain Agricultural Development Company’s brand, and toured the hydroponics facility, inspecting seedling beds.
He commended the efforts of the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry and the Bahrain Agricultural Development Company, as well as the staff, expressing best wishes for their continued success.
Mr Al Mubarak said that the first phase of the hydroponics project, focused on Hoorat A’ali and Duraz, will expand modern agricultural production methods and aims to annually produce 260 tonnes of agricultural goods per site, totalling 520 tonnes for the kingdom’s food stock.
The initiative includes establishing seven greenhouses, an agricultural incubator, and a collaboration with a specialised company for operations, production, and marketing from both sites.
