Environment and our Healthy living are directly proportionate to each other hence the significance of maintaining the environment and the impacts of it on our health cannot be ignored. In this view, companies must commit to Environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG).
Part of the VINCI group, which is committed to 3 environmental pillars:
Comsip Al A’Ali has taken the accountability to be a contributor.
On the one hand, thanks to the various projects carried out, such as the latest contract awarded for a new solar plant project in Bahrain. Comsip Al A’Ali will carry out this project as an EPC contractor including design, procurement construction including operation and maintenance of this solar power plant for two years. This new solar plant is expected to generate 1.074 million kilowatt hours of clean energy in its first year of operation, which is equivalent to a carbon emission reduction of 885 tons.
With this project, Comsip Al A’Ali strengthens its position in renewable energy with a total installed capacity of 17.5MWp in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which is equivalent to a carbon emission reduction of 24.200 tons per year.
On the other hand, one of the Vinci Group's main objectives in terms of ESG ambition is to reduce its direct and indirect energy-related emissions by 40% by 2030, in that context Comsip Al A’Ali has decided to take many initiatives such as converting its fleet of cars to electric vehicles for its employees. In Bahrain, the CO2 emissions (g/km) as a criteria as much important as fuel consumption and price of any new vehicles that we select and we use. In this regard, any new contract for vehicles in Bahrain shall have a maximum of 175g/km CO2 emissions. This value will also evolve in the future to maybe achieve 0 g/km. Comsip Al A’Ali has decided to renew 10 vehicles in our fleet for which we had an average CO2 emission of 246 gCO2/km which we reduced to 151 gCO2/km, a reduction in our CO2 emissions for these vehicles of 39% and an average reduction in fuel consumption of 29%.
We are also proud to operate the Middle East's first electric car for VINCI Energies, including an EV charger in our office directly connected to our Solar Plant. With the increase in the number of electric vehicle chargers and the future availability of electric cars in Bahrain, in the coming years we will be able to transform our vehicle fleet to electric vehicles.
The energy transition and ESG commitment is underway in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
