Bahrain fiscal programme steps praised

MANAMA: Finance Ministers of the UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have praised Bahrain’s efforts to implement the Fiscal Balance Programme initiatives in accordance with the time frame set to this effect.

They commended the positive results of the programme since it was launched in October “thanks to the firm determination of those in charge of the scheme”.

This came as Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa yesterday met UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs Obeid Al Tayer, Kuwaiti Finance Minister Nayef Al Hajraf and Saudi Assistant Minister for International Financial Affairs and Financial Policies Dr Abdulaziz Al Rasheed, on behalf of the Saudi finance minister.

They lauded results of an assessment carried out by the Arab Monetary Fund on the implementation of the programme, which affirmed considerable progress in implementing the scheme, reflecting keenness to achieve the aspired objective to reach the balance point by early 2022.

They expressed satisfaction about the positive results and hailed the outstanding role played by Bahrain’s executing bodies, wishing them success in implementing the programme’s initiatives.
