Vaccine registration call for youngsters

Children aged five to 11 can be registered to receive their Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination shots, starting today, the health ministry has announced.

The first batch of the Pfizer-BioNTech shot for this age group has arrived and the health ministry is encouraging all parents to register their children for the jab.

“Parents can register their kids for vaccination through the BeAware Application or by visiting healthalert.gov.bh,” the Health Ministry noted, in a statement, adding that the jabs would be administered through the vaccination centre at Sitra Mall.

Registration for the shot requires the consent of the child’s parent or guardian. An adult must also accompany them when they receive the jab.

The ministry also pointed to the positive results achieved as a result of the strong vaccination rates, especially amongst five to 11-year-olds, adding that getting vaccinated is necessary to achieving herd immunity.

The Sinopharm vaccine is also available for children, aged three to 11 at health centres across the kingdom.
