During his visit, the minister and the delegates were taken on a site tour of the Bahrain Gas Plant.Dr Dafer provided a detailed brief on the progress of the project which currently exceeds 55pc of the total work.
"The Bahrain Gas Plant project is on track and is progressing as scheduled. We are incredibly proud of this strategic landmark project which is in line with the Economic Vision 2030 and supported by the leadership of the kingdom. This reflects their trust in nogaholding's track record and their confidence in investing in Bahrain to further fuel growth of energy development projects in the country," he added.
The expansion of the company's gas processing facilities will include a central gas processing train with a capacity of 350 million standard cubic feet per day and pipeline and storage facilities at Sitra Wharf to cater for the enhanced capacity.
Shaikh Mohamed said the project was another significant milestone for Bahrain in the energy sector, supported by the leadership.
"The project is among the several Noga and nogaholding strategic projects aimed at securing continued economic growth in the kingdom," he added.Tawseah and JGC Corporation had previously signed an agreement and partnered in January 2016 to build a third processing facility.
Based on the success of the previous agreement, Tawseah and JGC Gulf International partnered in October 2016 to build pipelines and expand the storage facilities at Sitra Wharf.
JGC Corporation and JGC Gulf International were appointed as the engineering, procurement and construction contractors for the project.
The construction work of the project is expected to be completed in 34 months from the signing date of the CGP III EPC with commissioning expected by fourth quarter next year.
The gas processing plants extract natural gas liquids that are exported on one hand and on the other; the residue dry gas supplements the natural gas supply to power plants and other major industrial end users.
The new plant will also play an important role in supporting Tatweer's enhanced oil recovery.
