Solar panels installed on Seef government building

A GOVERNMENT-OWNED building in Seef has been equipped with solar panels.

Solar power will be switched on next month, on Bahrain’s National Day, at a property belonging to the Jaffari Waqf (Endowment) Directorate, in Seef.

It has been carried out in partnership with energy company Solar 1 and paves the way for renewable energy to be used at places of worship and other properties supervised by the directorate.

“The directorate has approved the implementation of pilot projects by utilising renewable energy in houses of worship, religious establishments and Waqf properties – including mosques, ma’atams and investment properties,” said Jaffari Waqf (Endowment) Directorate chairman Shaikh Abdulmohsin Al Asfoor.

The GDN reported in September that 550 government-owned buildings countrywide are to be fitted with photovoltaic panels as part of efforts to develop renewable energy and rationalise power consumption.
