Project to turn organic waste into fertiliser

MANAMA: A project to turn organic waste into farming fertilisers has been launched in Bahrain.
The first sample of compost green waste is expected to be used next month, said Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Nabil Abul Fateh.
He made the statement as he visited the experimental factory for composting agricultural waste in Hoorat A’ali.
The experimental factory will have the capacity to produce 10 tonnes per day – that is 3,650 tonnes annually.
The first sample of compost green waste will be used next month in ministry-run public gardens.
The success of the experimental process would pave the way for expanding the project to produce up to 60,000 tonnes of organic fertilisers annually.
The overall public garden waste topped 67,000 tonnes during the first half of this year, up from 64,000 tonnes during the same period last year.
