New Oasis Mall in Juffair creates jobs for 500

AROUND 500 jobs have been created with the opening of a new multi-storey shopping and entertainment centre in Juffair, it was revealed.

Approximately 35 per cent of these jobs at the new Oasis Mall Juffair have gone to Bahrainis, according to a statement from mall owner and operator Al Rashid Group (ARG), a division of Landmark Group.

The new 60,000sqm facility, with approximately 900 car park spaces, was officially inaugurated by Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry Commerce Affairs Under-Secretary Nader Almoayyed.

The inauguration coincided with ARG’s 45th anniversary and was held in the presence of Landmark Group chairwoman and chief executive Renuka Jagtiani, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry board member Shaikha Hind bint Salman Al Khalifa and other senior officials.

“Firstly, the new mall is providing the community with employment,” Ms Jagtiani told the GDN.

“Secondly, it is a place to meet, shop and spend time without the stress of it being too big.

“Today, it’s not only about what you buy, it’s also about having a place to socialise.”

With a large presence across Bahrain, Ms Jagtiani reiterated the importance of the brands being accessible across all communities in the kingdom. “Our own brands have developed over 45 years, giving us a deep understanding of the region,” she added.

“As the region has grown we have adapted – which is not easy.

“It’s great that the mall has come at a landmark time of 45 years.

“It is very much who we are – convenience for the community in a great location.”

ARG chairman Shaikh Hassan bin Rashid Al Khalifa, meanwhile, said that the opening was a “very proud moment” as it coincided with the group’s 45th anniversary.

“Retail has traditionally been one of the strongest economic growth sectors of Bahrain, and we are committed to further driving this through our investments in the market,” he said.

“The new mall will not only support Bahrain’s retail industry and tourism but also create new jobs and offer exceptional shopping and leisure experiences for visitors.”

ARG brands include Centrepoint, Home Box, Max, Fun City, Steve Madden, Shoexpress, Carpisa and Koton, as well as international favourites like Adidas, Samsung, Starbucks, Cinéco Cinemas and a Carrefour Supermarket are all represented in Oasis Mall Juffair.

Oasis Malls are also located in Riffa and Muharraq and the brands are also represented in Marina Mall and City Centre Bahrain.
