Major pensions forum draws huge response

MANAMA: Takaud, a Bahrain-based specialist provider of pension, savings and investment solutions for the Mena region, has announced that the 2017 MENA Pensions Conference has elicited extraordinary response from the region’s pension, financial services and corporate business sectors.
More than 500 delegates have signed up to attend the conference this Tuesday at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay, which will be inaugurated by Supreme Council of Health chairman Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, who is also chairman of the Hekma Society for the Retired.
Held under the patronage of the Central Bank of Bahrain, the conference addresses the theme of sustainability of pension benefits through public-private partnerships, and pension fund investment strategies.
The conference also covers key related topics, including the global pension outlook, employee benefits and engagement strategies, pension fund investment portfolios, fintech for pension, pension options for expats in the GCC, governance of existing employee savings and pension schemes, and how SMEs can manage and retain human capital through employee benefits strategies.
A number of high-profile national, regional and international institutions and companies are taking part in and supporting the conference, including the Economic Development Board, Tamkeen, Islamic Development Bank, World Bank Group, UNDP, International Peace Institute, Robeco, Allianz, Intertrust, AON, FIS Global, CEM Benchmarking and Roland Berger.
“As the only pension conference organised in the entire Mena region and supported widely by regional and international institutions, this conference is very much in line with reinforcing Bahrain’s position as the hub for major regional business events, especially in the financial sector,” said Takaud’s chief government business and communications officer Ebrahim K Ebrahim, who is also the leader of the conference.
“A great feature of this conference is that it blends pensions with HR management strategies in the area of employee benefits and engagement, which by itself is a major industry in developed markets, and which is highly appreciated by HR leaders in our region,” added Mr Ebrahim.
