HONOURED: Pioneering businessmen and workers recognised

MANAMA: Pioneering businessmen and workers were honoured yesterday.
It was also revealed that Bahrain’s unemployment level had stabilised at a safe level.
His Majesty King Hamad deputised Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan to patronise the 33rd ceremony at the Gulf Hotel Bahrain Convention and Spa.
The event was attended by MPs, officials, public personalities, leading trade and economic figures and representatives of labour unions and civil society institutions.
The minister stressed Bahrain’s success in maintaining the rate of unemployment at four per cent, which is a safe level by international standards.
He commended Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the General Federal of Bahrain Trade Unions, hailing their role in maintaining the stability of the labour market, rehabilitating and employing jobseekers, protecting workers, increasing productivity and encouraging the culture of dialogue.
He also praised Tamkeen and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority for their co-operation with the ministry in consolidating labour market regulation.
The list of achievers includes four pioneers, four outstanding companies, one small enterprise, 11 administrative personnel, two personalities supporting the handicapped, eight people with physical disability and four people from the informal economic sector.
The list includes oil and gas employees, 14 transformation industry workers, nine from the transport sector, seven from the banking, finance and insurance sectors and employees working with other sectors.
