Gulf Air suspends Kuwait flights
GULF Air has temporarily suspended flights to and from Kuwait International Airport effective from midnight today until further notice.
However, Bahrain’s national carrier said the remaining flights to and from Kuwait are limited to Kuwaiti citizens and their first degree relatives as well as domestic workers accompanying them.
Non-Kuwaitis are prohibited from entering Kuwait through Kuwait International Airport on flights arriving yesterday and today.
Non-Kuwaitis will be able to enter Bahrain through returning flights from Kuwait until today.
All passengers are urged to check the airline’s website before travelling or call the contact centre for more information on 17373737.
“Please note that the airline may take more time than usual to answer customer calls, due to the higher than usual call volumes made regarding passenger queries on the global outbreak of coronavirus (Covid-19),” said a statement yesterday.
It also said that its sales office in Seef Mall will be open today from 8am until 4pm to serve customers hit by the recent flight suspensions or changes.
The office will operate normally tomorrow from 8am to 2pm.
Halting
The GDN reported yesterday that Kuwait was halting all commercial flights to and from the country until further notice, with the exception of cargo flights.
Authorities in Kuwait also announced a public holiday in the country from yesterday until March 26, with work resuming on March 29.
Officials said people were banned from going to restaurants and cafés, including those inside malls.
