Future challenges probed at top fertiliser forum

BERLIN: Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) president Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery led the company’s delegation at the 86th annual conference of the International Fertiliser Industry Association (IFA), in Berlin, Germany.

The forum discussed a range of issues, including specialised working papers on future prospects for fertiliser and nutrient supply, as well as studies on future farming systems.

Delegates also exchanged views on topics related to the industry’s vital strategies including the commitment of members to improve performance by better understanding customer needs and supporting high quality agricultural nutrient solutions.

Dr Jawahery said the forum was an opportunity to meet representatives and heads of international companies working in the global fertiliser sector and discuss steps to enhance co-operation.

He said participants discussed the challenges facing the fertiliser industry at the global level, the rapid technical progress and the boom in sustainable and innovative seed and agricultural nutrient technology.

Dr Jawahery stressed the importance of the company’s presence in such specialised events that promote its high-quality products as well as attract new customers and markets. On the sidelines of the event, Dr Jawahery and his accompanying delegation held meetings with accredited distributors and buyers and discussed strengthening co-operation.

The IFA has a membership of 540 companies engaged in the production, trade, transport and distribution of fertilisers and agricultural nutrients. Together they produce about 170 million tonnes annually, supporting global agricultural production.
