Financial literacy training initiative help for students
ALMOST 17,000 Bahraini students have benefited from a programme teaching basic financial literacy skills.
The 'More Than Money' initiative by INJAZ Bahrain and HSBC is in its 10th year, with 1,570 students from 35 schools taking part this academic year.
The programme was implemented by 52 volunteers, and included fundamentals of business and financial knowledge, including career selection and financial planning. 'More Than Money is INJAZ Bahrain's flagship financial literacy programme for intermediate students,' said INJAZ Bahrain executive director Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa.
'We believe that students need to understand the basics of financial matters and this programme educates students in this respect.'
HSBC Bahrain chief executive Melika Betley said that the bank was happy to be able to support the programme.
'We were able to contribute to the education of young learners as well as give our employee volunteers the opportunity to spend time with the pupils and support the development of their life skills', she said.
