Cement price in Bahrain rises by 40 per cent

MANAMA: The price of ready mix in Bahrain has increased by 40 per cent to BD37 per square metre, up from BD27, while the price of 100 concrete blocks rose to BD32 from BD18.

The price increase has angered contractors, Bahrain Contractors Society general secretary Riyadh Ahmed told our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.

He called for price control by Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Consumer Protection Committee to prevent tampering with prices.

He stressed the need to build cement and basic building materials factories and provide warehouses for the storage of imported building materials to be used when needed.
