Bahrain’s business model promoted worldwide

MANAMA: ‘Bahrain Model’, a business development programme, is being promoted across the world by the UN.

The initiative which originated in the kingdom is currently being implemented in 52 countries and has created more than 16,000 jobs and $2 billion in investment.

Via a recorded message, UN Secretary-General António Guterres told delegates at the opening of the World Entrepreneurs Investment Forum (WEIF) 2017 in Bahrain yesterday that the programme had changed the lives of countless entrepreneurs worldwide.

Developed by UN Industrial Development Organisation’s (Unido) Investment and Technology Promotion Office in Bahrain, the Entrepreneurship Development and Investment Promotion Programme, also known as the ‘Bahrain Model’, started as an initiative to foster enterprise development for investment.

The opening of the second edition of the forum at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, coincided with the 12th edition of the Invest in Bahrain Forum.

The Premier deputised his adviser Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa to patronise both the events.

Shaikh Salman reiterated the government’s keenness to promote Bahrain as an investment destination through a comprehensive vision aimed at revitalising all economic sectors and encouraging the private sector to seize opportunities and invest in promising projects.
