Bahraini ordered to pay electricity and water bills of BD79,321

The High Administrative Court has ordered a Bahraini to pay off arrears in electricity and water bills of BD79,321.480 and rejected a counterclaim filed against the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA).
The EWA had filed a lawsuit urging the defendant to pay the bills, which he refused to settle.
He filed a counterclaim demanding an expert be commissioned on an urgent basis to re-examine the amount. He also demanded the authority bear all expenses including expert and lawyer’s fees. He claimed he had already paid BD25,000 of the total amount.
The court rejected his claim since he failed to produce evidence of payment, reports our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
