Bahrain ranked third in Arab region on Bloomberg Global Health Index
MANAMA: Bahrain has been ranked third in the Arab region and 40th in the world on the Bloomberg Global Health Index surveying 163 countries.
Each country in the index was graded based on variables such as life expectancy, causes of death and health risks ranging from high blood pressure and tobacco use to malnutrition and the availability of clean water.
Bahrain totalled 68.73 points as a health grade, 74.20 overall health score and -5.46 for health risks.
Only two other Arab countries fared better than Bahrain – Lebanon and Qatar, which ranked 32nd and 36th respectively.
The Bloomberg Global Health Index ranked the UAE and Oman 43rd and 48th respectively.
Italy, one of the most developed countries, topped the index, with life expectancy ranging from 80 to 98, compared with just 52 years for people living in Sierra Leone.
