Bahrain imports top BD333 million

MANAMA: The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) issued its Foreign Trade Report of February 2017 which encompasses balance of trade, imports, exports and re-exports (national origin) goods.
The value of imports has reached nearly BD333 million; while the top 10 countries account for 64 per cent of the imports value and 36pc for other countries.
According to the report, China was ranked as the first country that exports to Bahrain with BD40m; the UAE as the second with BD34m whereas the Saudi Arabia was ranked third with BD24m.
Additionally, the value of the exported national origin has reached approximately BD177m. The top 10 countries account for 87pc of the exported national origin value and 13pc for other countries.
Saudi Arabia was ranked as the first country to import from Bahrain with BD45m; the US comes second with BD35m and the UAE as third with BD20m.
As for exported products, aluminium wires emerged as the top products exported in January 2017 with BD26m; agglomerated iron ores and concentrates were positioned second with a value of BD23m; and gold jewellery stood third for exported products with BD16m.
With regards to the re-exported field, the value has reached BD47m. The top 10 countries account for 94pc of the re-exported value and 6pc for other countries.
Saudi Arabia was ranked as the first country to re-export from Bahrain with BD17m, China ranked as the second with BD11m and the UAE third with BD8m.
Four-wheel drive cars emerged as the top product re-exported from Bahrain with BD11m, cigarettes came as second with BD5m and vessels for the transport of goods came as the third with BD4m.
The trade balance, difference between exports and imports, declined in the value of the deficit in February 2017 reaching an amount of BD109m.
