Alba celebrates graduation of employees

Alba, one of the largest aluminium smelters in the world, celebrated the successful completion of 24 employees’ Top-Up BEng Mechanical Engineering programme from the University of Huddersfield (UK).

The graduation ceremony, held on Thursday, was attended by Alba’s chief executive Ali Al Baqali, the executive management team, and top officials from Huddersfield University.

In his address, Mr Al Baqali emphasised Alba’s dedication to employee development, stating, “We believe that education is crucial to building a productive workforce. This Top-Up Programme is one of our many initiatives to unlock the potential of our national employees through targeted career development.”

Launched in October 2023, the one-year programme involved employees from various operational departments completing modules that included lectures, tutorials, workshops, and private study sessions held at Alba’s Training facilities.

As of the end of 2023, a total of 69 Alba employees were actively enrolled in part-time top-up BEng and BSc programmes organised in collaboration with renowned local and international universities.
