80 leading women engineers honoured

More than 80 leading women engineers were honoured last night for their outstanding achievements in various fields.

Deputy Premier Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa attended, on behalf of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and Supreme Council for Women (SCW) president, the official ceremony of Bahraini Women’s Day 2017 at the Arcapita headquarters in Bahrain Bay.

Present were parliament chairman Ahmed Al Mulla, Shura Council chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh, senior officials and guests.

Shaikh Khalid, who is also chairman of the High Supervisory Committee for Bahraini Women’s Day 2017, congratulated the leadership and Princess Sabeeka on the occasion.

Winners of a competition on the best design for a monument embodying Bahraini women’s advancement march, launched by SCW in co-operation with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, were also honoured.

Shaikh Khalid praised Princess Sabeeka’s directives to promote Bahraini Women’s Day as a work programme and an annual activity to assess women’s status and boost their development in all fields.

Capital Governor Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa saluted Bahraini women in the engineering sector for their competence, hailing the kingdom’s dedication and years-long efforts to empower women to integrate into all fields and assume leading positions in the public and private sectors.
