WTO lauds Saudi role in bringing stability to global trade system

GENEVA — The World Trade Organization (WTO) has lauded Saudi Arabia for playing an important role in bringing stability to the world trade system as well as promoting global trade.

The chairman of WTO General Council, David Walker, who is also the New Zealand’s ambassador, and other senior officials, praised the Kingdom's role in prioritizing issues relevant to the WTO, as the president of the G20, during their address at the annual meeting of the council, Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.

The council also bid farewell to Saleh Bin Eid Al-Hussaini, Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative at the WTO, at the end of his tenure.

Al-Hussaini, who joined the WTO in mid-March 2017, extended thanks and appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, for the trust they placed in him to represent the Kingdom and look after its interests within the global trade body, all through his tenure.
