Women’s role in virus fight hailed

The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) yesterday highlighted the contributions of Bahraini women to national efforts to combat Covid-19, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander, and First Deputy Premier.

Bahraini women receive a large share of care and support to ensure that they benefit from the services provided to them, it said in a report.

The report stressed that Bahraini women were quick to respond and interact through their work sites and multiple roles in a way that contributed to the formation and development of the Bahraini model to deal with the Coved-19 pandemic and control its social and economic consequences.

“Their contributions in a number of areas assert their advanced position in national development and their partnership with men in achieving sustainable progress in accordance with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.”

The report pointed to the role of the SCW in supporting Bahraini women and families, and the state’s efforts in women’s advancement.

It highlighted a national campaign initiated by the SCW titled ‘Together for the safety of Bahrain’, in direct co-ordination with the e-Volunteer platform. It also aimed to provided support for Bahraini women, especially the frontliners, the elderly and the disabled.

The campaign followed directives from Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and SCW president.

“The council has made a 100 per cent digital transformation of its services to Bahraini women and families through “Your Remote Consultant” programme,” it said.

“It helped provide advisory services, video sessions and instant interactions on the council’s website and at the Women’s Support Centre, in addition to paying off the debts of Bahraini women in distress.”
