UAE launches nationwide disinfection programme

Abu Dhabi: A nationwide campaign to sterilise all public utilities, means of transport and metro services begins in the UAE today (March 26).

The joint initiative by the Health Prevention Ministry and the Interior Ministry to conduct the National Disinfection Programme is scheduled to run until Sunday.

During the campaign, the movement of traffic and public mobility will be restricted, while public transportation and metro services will be halted.

Authorities have also urged the public to stay at home during the disinfection time and avoid going out unless absolutely necessary to get essential supplies, or work in vital sectors.

Pharmacies, and food retail outlets in the UAE, including cooperative societies, grocery stores, and supermarkets, will be allowed to operate 24 hours.
