Transactions hit BD175.3m

MANAMA: The value of sales transactions in the local market reached BD175.3 million last month compared with BD152.6m in May, a 14.9 per cent increase.

The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) revealed the statistics in its periodic report on Point of Sales Transactions Statistics and Payment Systems for June 2020.

The number of transactions reached 6,190,271 last month compared with 5,584,406 in May, a 10.8pc increase.

The report indicated that the five sectors that came on top in terms of number of sales transactions include supermarkets with 1,178,199 transactions, restaurants with 1,151,698 transactions, department stores with 827,405 transactions, clothing and footwear with 315,925 transactions and government services with 312,164 transactions.
