The future is green

BAPCO Energies plans to transform itself into a progressive and ambitious firm that supports the security of Bahrain’s future needs by focusing on renewable energy.

The launch of the innovative project was revealed during a briefing to His Majesty King Hamad by his representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Bapco Energies chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa during a meeting at Safriya Palace yesterday.

His Majesty’s Personal Representative Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Bapco Energies board members also attended.

The King commended Shaikh Nasser’s pivotal role in leading the drive to transform the energy sector in Bahrain.

He praised all the workers and affiliates of Bapco Energies Group and its subsidiaries for their sincere efforts and contributions to pioneering achievements which honoured Bahrain’s standing at the regional and international levels and bolstered national development.

His Majesty stressed the need for transformational plans in the energy sector to be in line with the global developments, by encouraging innovation and adopting the best international practices to enhance efficiency and raise productivity to reach zero neutrality.

Shaikh Nasser gave a detailed presentation on the company’s operational strategy.

He shed light on the launch of the energy project aimed to transform Bapco Energies from a traditional holding company focused on oil and gas into an innovative one that focused on renewable energy, under the slogan ‘Energy for Future Generations’.

Shaikh Nasser highlighted achievements accomplished in 2022 until the first half of this year, in addition to the progress made in the Bapco Refinery Modernisation and Development Programme project, and the gas exploration and production activities carried out by Tatweer Petroleum.

Bapco Energies is the new brand identity of the Oil and Gas Holding Company, nogaholding, which was inaugurated in May by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister

Under Bapco Energies, the existing operating companies, including Bahrain Petroleum Company, Bahrain National Gas Company, Bahrain National Gas Expansion Company, Bahrain Aviation Fuelling Company, Tatweer Petroleum and Bapco Retail Company are to be integrated and rebranded over the next three years, as reported by the GDN.

The businesses include three new ventures focused on maximising enterprise value through trading and investing in new technologies and renewables.
