Task force set up on new towns plan

BAHRAIN has set up a task force to study blueprints of its recently-announced new towns.

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who is head of the High Urban Planning Committee, issued an edict yesterday establishing the task force.

Chaired by Noof Jamsheer, the panel includes Shaikha Haifa bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Mohammed Al Oraibi, Dr Mohammed Al Rumaidh, Dr Ali Karimi, Dr Giovanna Carnevale, Powell Layn and Ian Shari.

The team is assigned to review and study the plans of the cities to be developed in Fasht Al Jarm, Suhaila Island, Fasht Al Azm, Bahrain Bay and Hawar Islands.

The panel shall also evaluate the initial designs as well as provide technical observations and opinions related to planning economic, social and environmental aspects of the new towns.

It has also been tasked with proposing an executive plan and draw necessary procedures for it.

Under the edict, the panel is required to submit monthly reports to the High Urban Planning Committee on its work, along with recommendations.

All ministries and state entities are required to supply the work team with all the data and information deemed necessary to conduct its task.
