Tamkeen supports PwC regional service centre

Tamkeen announced its support for a new regional service centre by PwC, an accounting and professional services firm, in Manama. The centre will offer consulting and operational services across various industries.
This initiative aligns with Tamkeen’s National Employment Programme, aiming to create up to 250 jobs for Bahraini citizens. The centre will strengthen Bahrain’s position as a hub for local and international firms serving the kingdom and neighbouring countries, while collaborating with other PwC centres in the region.
Recruitment for the first phase has begun, with plans to hire 50 Bahrainis initially. The centre aims to reach full capacity in the coming years and will provide training to enhance employees’ technical skills.
This project complements Tamkeen’s recent programmes targeting the career development and employment of 50,000 Bahrainis annually. The agency plays a key role by offering a comprehensive package that includes training and wage support to promote the hiring of Bahraini nationals.
“This partnership aligns with our mission to drive sustainable economic growth, bolster the competitiveness of our national talent pool, and empower Bahraini graduates through employment and training,” said Tamkeen’s chief executive Maha Mofeez.
“The service centre will provide valuable experience for Bahrainis and contribute to the growth of sectors like financial services, a significant contributor to our GDP.”
Ms Mofeez emphasised the initiative’s role in upskilling Bahrainis for rewarding careers and contributing to the kingdom’s economic ambitions. The financial services sector offers some of the highest wages in Bahrain, contributing to private sector wage growth.
This collaboration aligns with Tamkeen’s mandate to stimulate the economy and develop local talent to be the preferred choice for employers. It also underscores the agency’s commitment to providing quality jobs and training opportunities for young Bahrainis.
PwC’s decision to locate the centre in Bahrain reflects the country’s strategic location, favourable business environment, and robust economic infrastructure supported by progressive regulations. Bahrain’s growing pool of skilled professionals will further enhance the centre’s ability to deliver exceptional services to clients in the region.
“We are grateful for Tamkeen’s support, which is crucial for expanding our service offerings and fostering promising career opportunities for local talent,” said PwC Middle East country senior partner in Bahrain Mohamed Al Mahroos.
This development is seen as a significant milestone in PwC’s investment journey in Bahrain. The Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) expressed its delight at facilitating the centre’s success. The EDB highlighted Bahrain’s progressive regulations, thriving financial ecosystem, and skilled workforce as factors attracting leading companies like PwC and fostering global success stories.
Tamkeen’s endorsement of the centre aligns with its 2024 strategic priorities focused on economic impact and sustainable development. These priorities include increasing economic participation, expanding career development opportunities for Bahrainis, and further developing the private sector.
