Sustainable Development Minister participates in 2023 SDG Summit

New York, Sept. 19 (BNA): Noor bint Ali Khulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development, participated in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2023 Summit held on September 18-19, on the sidelines of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 78).

 

Dennis Francis, President of the 78th Session of the General Assembly, began the session by affirming the importance of the summit, being an opportunity to evaluate the developments of achieving the goals on sustainable developments and its global challenges.

 

António Guterres, UN Secretary-General, delivered a speech reviewing the challenges and divisions of the world today, which poses as an obstacle for the UN.

 

He affirmed the importance of creating a strategy to rescue the goals of sustainable developments and deal with the threat of climate change.

 

During the summit, the Political Declaration was also adopted, which reaffirms shared commitment to end poverty and hunger everywhere, combat inequalities within and among countries and build peaceful societies that leave no one behind.

 

The Political Declaration states that climate change is a major challenge, which requires focus on protecting the planet and its natural resources.
