Sustainable Development Minister holds meetings at WEF

Vienna, Jan. 17 (BNA): Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development, held a series of meetings with ministers from several countries, as part of the kingdom’s participation in the annual World Economic Forum (WEF), hosted by the Swiss city of Davos, under the theme “Rebuilding Trust”.

 

Minister Al Khulaif met Karien van Gennip, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Affairs and Employment in the Netherlands.

 

Al Khulaif hailed the Bahraini-Dutch relations, stressing the importance of advancing bilateral cooperation. She highlighted Bahrain’s keenness to continue adopting a set of ambitious national initiatives and programmes that support the provision of more qualitative opportunities for the citizens, in line with the sustainable development goals, which the Kingdom has made major strides in implementing to ensure a brighter future for its people.

 

Karien van Gennip lauded Bahrain’s distinguished experience and prominent role in achieving sustainable development goals, wishing the kingdom further progress and prosperity.

 

Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif also held a meeting with Smriti Zubin Irani, Indian Minister of Women and Child Development, Minister of Minority Affairs.

 

The two sides discussed ways to enhance the Bahraini-Indian cooperation in a way that would achieve development goals, and ensure their sustainability.

 

They also reviewed the two countries’ experiences in achieving sustainability in various sectors, as well as their practices aimed at consolidating various development fields.

 

Al Khulaif indicated that Bahrain is keen to continue intensifying its efforts and taking advanced steps to speed up the implementation of sustainable development goals, leading to its success in ensuring sustainability at levels, including the social, economic and environmental ones, which pushed modernisation and economic growth towards broader horizons.

 

The Indian minister commended Bahrain’s tremendous efforts to achieve sustainable development goals, which serves its aspirations and goals.
