Supporting women-led firms

A PROGRAMME that will help 10 women-led companies advance and grow their business will kick off in August, it was announced yesterday.

The fourth edition of the ‘Standard Chartered Women in Tech Bahrain’ will be held in partnership with the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Tamkeen and Bahrain FinTech Bay.

Awards for top three participants are $35,000, $20,000 and $15,000 respectively, along with a three-month residency at the Bahrain FinTech Bay for all winners.

“The CBB is keen to accelerate the progress of digitisation in the financial sector and to raise awareness about the role of women in the field of fintech,” said CBB governor Rasheed Al Maraj in a statement.

Tamkeen chief executive Maha Mofeez said that the programme is in line with Tamkeen’s strategic goals to support Bahraini businesswomen to convert their ideas into real-life enterprises.
