STAY ALERT! Cabinet calls for greater Covid vigil ahead of new school year

Bahrain’s educational institutions have been urged to remain extra vigilant about Covid measures ahead of a new school year.

A Cabinet meeting yesterday, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at Gudaibiya Palace, also wished students and the institutions a year full of achievements, excellence and success.

The Cabinet expressed its gratitude and appreciation to citizens and residents for the excellent uptake of the Covid-19 booster shots.

It noted that the successful vaccination of 80 per cent of those 40 years and over with the booster shot reflects the people’s sense of social responsibility.

The session approved a memorandum by the Government Executive Committee concerning the formulation of legislation that strengthens the rule of law, safeguards rights and supports development.

It also condemned the two terrorist bombings that took place in the vicinity of Kabul Airport in Afghanistan.

Ministers expressed condolences to the victims’ families and wished those injured a speedy recovery.

The meeting also approved a memorandum by the ministerial committee for financial and economic affairs and fiscal balance regarding the approval of the list of projects financed by private contributions through co-operation with the private sector and the proposed criteria for including projects on the list.

The criteria stipulates that the projects must be related to construction and benefit the community.

Additionally, the Finance and National Economy Ministry must co-ordinate with the government agency responsible for the project to review the costs of the proposed projects and determine the operational needs of the projects in advance, according to the memorandum.
