Second Bahrain EU annual conference set for May 2-4

Brussels, Feb.8 (BNA): The second annual conference between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the European Union will be held on May 2-4, said Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence, Betsy Mathieson.

The date was announced during the panel discussion session, which was organized by the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence and This is Bahrain in the EU Parliament in Brussels, Belgium.

The event was attended by EU Parliament member, Jose Bozadias, Shura Council member, Mohammad Ali Hassan, and a group of students from Bahrain and the European Union

“The conference, which will be attended by partners from 27 EU countries, will focus on the youth issue”, said Mathieson, noting that a joint youth work committee between Bahrain and the European Union works to identify topics and projects of common interest, which will be presented at the conference.

She expressed delight at holding the conference at the historic building of the European Parliament and listening to youth and students, which heralds a bright and promising future.

“Bahrain has always been present in the minds and hearts through its important initiatives and steps that contribute to enhancing communication and rapprochement between different peoples”, she said.

For his part, Bozadias, stressed the importance of integrating young people into international concepts by developing their knowledge and arming them with education and knowledge to face the various challenges that the world is going through.

He hailed Bahrain’s achievements, especially in the field of parliamentary work, stressing joint endeavor to provide the best service to the people and create a better future for societies and future generations.

Shura Council member Mohammed Ali Hassan said that the legislative system in Bahrain is based on the principle of cooperation between its two chambers and other government institutions.

He highlighted the Kingdom’s endeavor to spread Bahrain's humanitarian message around the world, pointing out that the National Assembly works to represent the Kingdom of Bahrain in all international forums.

The forum represents one of the fruits of the recommendations of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the European Union Conference on Freedom of Religion and Belief, which was held last year.

The two sides then recommended the formation of a joint youth action committee between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the European Union.
