Saudi Arabia signs $1.15bn infrastructure development projects

Saudi Arabia has announced plans to implement 11 major infrastructure development projects worth more than SR4.3 billion ($1.15 billion) covering key cities in the kingdom's Eastern Province. Of these majority are aimed at boosting water services, reported Arab News. 

Agreements in this regard were signed in the presence of Eastern Province Governor Saud bin Abdulaziz.

These projects will have a significant impact in the region's key cities including Dammam, Khobar, Al Ahsa and Qatif and the needs of desalinated water, it stated.

The duration of the implementation of these contracts ranges between 18-30 months, said Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Al Fadhli. 

“The National Water Company is currently working on completing the procedures for awarding 3 contracts, at an estimated cost of more than SR1.2 billion, he added.
