Salman City ‘a shining mark in housing strategy’

Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi yesterday toured the Salman City, along with Slovak Deputy Prime Minister Štefan Holý, currently on a visit to Bahrain.

She highlighted His Majesty King Hamad’s directives to build 40,000 units, describing the plan as a ‘shining mark’ in Bahrain’s housing strategy since the 1960s.

Ms Al Romaihi stressed the government’s success in providing thousands of units countrywide – a drive that was further enhanced in partnership with the private sector.

“Residential town projects represent a key pillar that supports Bahrain’s housing policy,” she said, outlining the Isa Town, Hamad Town and Zayed Town projects.

“The trend was further consolidated over the past decade by the construction of Salman City, the biggest housing project in Bahrain. The government has also fast-tracked the construction of four other mega projects – Khalifa Town, East Hidd Town, East Sitra Town and Al Ramli residential project in Salmabad.”

The Slovak delegation toured the visitors centre and a model unit which is still under construction.
