Safety at worksites stressed

Labour Minister and Occupational Health and Safety Council chairman Jameel Humaidan has stressed the importance of strategic partnership with the relevant authorities in promoting a culture of safety and health at worksites, to improve the work environment conditions, and reduce occupational accidents and diseases, according to advanced preventive practices aimed at preventing accidents at worksites by following the approved international standards.

The minister made the statements while receiving the chairman of the newly-formed board of directors of the Bahrain Health and Safety Society, Dr Mustafa Al Sayed, in the presence of several members.

Mr Humaidan congratulated the new board, praising the role played by the society to promote a culture of occupational health and safety, as well as highlight the kingdom’s achievements in this field, as it put in place and legislative infrastructure that ensures the safety of the work environment by applying high safety standards at various companies and institutions.

He reiterated the Labour Ministry’s support for the society, stressing that the ongoing co-operation among all parties has contributed to consolidating the culture of occupational health and safety in the kingdom, enabling it to host many regional and international events that focus on this issue.
