Register for wages call to employers

The move is part of eight initiatives under a BD4.3 billion financial stimulus package announced by the government to offset the impact of the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) on businesses.

It aims to provide the necessary liquidity to the private sector to deal with the effects of the current situation, preserve private sector growth and bolster its vital role in supporting the national economy.

Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan said the payments were expected to reach BD215 million, at an average of BD70m each month for 100,000 employees.

He pointed out that the payments will be made to companies listed with the Social Insurance Organisation (SIO) until the end of February.

Employers can register on www.sio.gov.bh, and the SIO announced that employers will have to just enter the IBAN of the account in which they want the payments to be transferred.
