Public warned to adhere to precautionary guidelines to mitigate spread of Covid-19

Health authorities have once again warned the public to adhere to precautionary guidelines to limit the spread of Covid-19.

Health Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Waleed Al Manea said cases continue to increase due to recklessness.

He revealed that the spread among Bahrainis was higher due to people being reckless and attending family gatherings, while the rise among expatriates is due to not properly following social distancing measures.

According to an analysis, between May 13 and June 9, each individual could transmit the virus to two others.

The R0 transmission spread in terms of residents is an average of 1.35, compared with 1.83 among Bahrainis.

“Ensuring public safety is a national duty,” said Dr Al Manea.
