Promoting a green culture ‘is crucial’

The importance of the government’s partnership with the private sector to promote the culture of recycling, planting trees and spreading awareness of its environmental importance has been stressed at a key meeting.

Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak pointed out that this partnership was essential as he met Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) chief executive Yasser Al Abbasi and chairman Kamal Ahmed yesterday.

The minister praised GPIC’s initiative to support afforestation projects and contribute to preserve the environment through recycling.

He noted the keenness to continue its joint work with GPIC to exchange skills and experiences as well as the projects that aim at preserving the environment.

The GPIC chairman said the company seeks to contribute to afforestation projects and household waste recycling as part of the company’s social commitments to support projects that serve the environment, increase green spaces and improve urbanisation standards.

He praised the vital projects taken upon by the ministry that are focused on improving environmental standards.
