Premier calls for solidarity

Manama: The Premier yesterday called on the world to come together in human solidarity to cope with unprecedented challenges.

He made the appeal on International Day of Conscience, observed today.

“The world today is facing major transformations, unlike any it has seen before, because of the spread of the coronavirus and the heavy losses it has inflicted,” His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said.

“This requires a clear joint visualisation to contain all the threats that humanity must face.”

He stressed the value of conscience as a human pivot that alerts the world to the need to shoulder its collective responsibilities towards everything that could bring human beings closer and fulfil their aspirations for growth and stability.

He expressed hope that the day, a product of his personal initiative, will contribute to a new world of peace and harmony.

The Premier called for eradicating hatred and rancour among peoples by promoting justice and harmony.

“Bahrain has lived and continues to live as a cohesive, developing society based on diversity and multiplicity of civilisations and cultures,” he said.

These sublime values have been enshrined under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad, and further entrenched in the Charter of National Action and the Constitution that bolstered the values of freedom, equality and justice among all.

“We have to listen to our conscience and the noble value it dictates in searching for solutions to problems that are of concern to the world at present and that threaten its future,” he said.

“We are facing a major responsibility for the world’s future and the international community must come under the umbrella of the UN to seek the path of righteousness and combat evil trends.”

The Premier expressed hope that the will for benevolence, peace and development will prevail over calls for violence and hatred, and that the world will advance towards a future in which achievements are preserved for us and for future generations.
