Plea to review corona test fees

Several MPs are calling for an urgent review of Covid-19 test fees for Bahraini passengers returning to the country.

This follows an increase in fees to BD36 from BD24. Passengers arriving at Bahrain International Airport will have to pay BD36 for three polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests.

The update reflecting on the BeAware Bahrain app follows the Civil Aviation Affairs’ revised travel protocols announced last week, effective from last Sunday, and applicable to passengers aged over six.

Parliament’s first deputy speaker Abdulnabi Salman urged authorities to reconsider the fees which will boost traffic to and from Bahrain.

MP Mohammed Buhamood said the fee increase follows a decision to add a third test on the fifth day of arrival, which represents a burden on citizens and their families, according to our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
