Parliament to discuss new fund to help Bahrainis during crisis

A new allowance to help Bahrainis during times of crisis is expected to be debated in Parliament soon.

Parliament's financial and economic affairs committee has recommended the establishment of the Crisis Fund presented by former MPs and drafted into law by the government.

Committee chairman Ahmed Al Salloom added that the allowance would double for free professions like fishermen and taxi drivers.

The proposed bill has been referred to Parliament's general-secretariat for urgent inclusion at an upcoming session.

If approved by both Parliament and Shura Council, the government will need to allocate financing and determine the criteria for beneficiaries and payments.
