NOBLE GESTURE: King increases monthly allowances for needy

MANAMA: His Majesty King Hamad has issued directives to increase monthly allowances for 11,000 orphans and widows sponsored by the Royal Humanitarian Foundation.

He assigned the foundation, chaired by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the King’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and National Security Adviser, to oversee payment of the extra amount and follow up on implementation of the royal gesture aimed at alleviating the financial burden of orphans and widows.

Shaikh Nasser thanked the King, RHF’s honorary president, for the kind gesture which confirms his fatherly care for widows and orphans, and constant interest in meeting the needs of all social segments and providing their requirements for a decent living under various circumstances.

He said the RHF will implement the royal directives as soon as possible to achieve their noble goals.

Shaikh Nasser pointed out that the royal initiative is no stranger to the King, who is always keen to provide all kinds of support for his loyal people, adding that the gesture reflects his constant interest in meeting the needs of orphans and widows.

RHF secretary general Dr Mustafa Al Sayed said the King is always at the forefront in meeting the needs of everyone on all occasions and under various circumstances, noting that the gesture reflects his interest in ensuring decent, secure and stable life for orphans and widows.

He said on Shaikh Nasser’s directives, the RHF will implement the royal gesture by crediting the allowances to the bank accounts of 11,000 orphans and widows next month, with an increase of 20 per cent.

He said the increase in the monthly allowances for RHF-sponsored orphans and widows is in line with the sound approach adopted by the King since the establishment of the RHF.
