No disruption in trade with Saudi Arabia

FLOW of trade between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia has not been disrupted in the last few weeks, stressed a senior official.

Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry commerce affairs under-secretary Eman Al Doseri yesterday said trade via King Fahad Causeway was under constant monitoring amid the pandemic.

“Trade flow between us and neighbouring Saudi Arabia is ongoing,” said Ms Al Doseri at a Press conference yesterday.

“Trade with other countries is also being monitored and assessed, but has not been badly affected.”

She was speaking as she reiterated the latest measures to combat the spread of Covid-19 in the country.

Commercial and industrial businesses providing goods or services directly to customers will be able to resume operations from tonight under strict guidelines including requiring all employees and customers to wear face masks.

The guidelines also state that the number of individuals across the facilities should be reduced to limit overcrowding and ensure social distancing.

It comes as the Government’s Executive Committee on Tuesday night also ordered cinemas to remain closed along with gyms, fitness studios, swimming pools, centres for recreational activities and salons.

Restaurants, tourist facilities and places serving food will be limited to delivery and take-out only and sheesha cafes will remain closed and limited to delivery and take-out.

All non-essential medical services provided by private health clinics will remain suspended, while a ban on public gatherings of more than five people is still in place.

The committee also directed the private sector to continue to abide by remote working where possible, minimise the number of employees present in an office at any one time, and ensure social distancing guidelines are observed.
