New system for issuing building permits on way

A NEW streamlined system for issuing building permits is being launched.

The Government Executive Committee, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, yesterday discussed the progress of Benayat, a new streamlined process for issuing building permits within five days.

The Crown Prince announced the launch of the Benayat system during the Government Forum, held on Sunday. In a statement, Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam Khalaf said Benayat represents a new milestone in streamlining processes associated with issuing building permits.

He emphasised the scheme’s role in encouraging investments and facilitating opportunities within the real estate sector, adding that it is one of a series of initiatives led by the Executive Committee to meet key objectives within Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and drive innovation in government services.

Mr Khalaf also spoke of the range of mechanisms introduced as part of Benayat, noting that the seamless workflow integrates over 14 entities to regulate and monitor the process, while private sector partners carry out different procedures, including an initial review of submissions to ensure requirements are fully met.

He said Benayat demonstrates the government’s commitment to transform the role of the private sector into the main engine of growth, fostering opportunities for citizens and accelerating sustainable development.
