New special education centre opens

A NEW special education centre, ICAN for Special Education, was inaugurated at a ceremony in Al Qurrayah under the patronage of Social Development Minister Osama Al Asfoor in the presence of ministry officials.

Mr Al Asfoor praised the centre for its effort in caring for those with special needs, and providing them education, stressing it as an important societal responsibility.

He highlighted Bahrain’s achievement in the field of social development and the efforts undertaken by private and civil agencies to enhance community partnership.

He also reaffirmed the ministry’s efforts in improving services provided to those with special needs to ensure seamless integration into society.

ICAN president Noora Maatouk expressed her appreciation towards the ministry for its support, and stated that the centre aimed to provide advanced services in education and rehabilitation for special needs people, and spread a culture of empathy towards them.
