New programme to help entrepreneurs

A training programme aimed at helping Bahraini entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) was organised by Ebda’a Hub, under the patronage of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed Alzayani.

A workshop entitled “Enhancing Performance” as part the Business Clinic programme was conducted by Hussain Shams, who addressed a number of topics, including balanced performance card, strategy, management system, goal setting, information and activity boards, measurement, and creation of key performance indicators, process formulation, management, reports and performance improvement.
The workshop included practical exercises on the use of modern methods of measuring performance, and how to apply these methods to the reality of SMEs in Bahrain, which account for more than 90 per cent of the total commercial records, of about 100,000 records.

The Business Clinic programme has so far benefited more than 100 Bahraini institutions, and helped them overcome economic challenges due to the oil price slump, and withstand natural economic fluctuations of the market at local, regional and international levels.
Training sessions help reduce the negative impact of the competition of inexperienced business owners, and pave the way for companies in facing obstacles. The programme consists of 12 training courses available to SME owners in a flexible and timely manner. These include monthly training courses, group workshops and individual consultation sessions. 

The programme focuses on a number of topics, including management skills for entrepreneurs, quality management, sales and marketing, financial management, business letter writing, human resource management for business owners, information systems know-how, occupational safety and performance management.
