New measures to tackle surge in Covid-19 cases announced

Bahrain has announced tough new measures to tackle the recent spike in Covid-19 cases.

The National Taskforce to Combat the Coronavirus (Covid-19) is determined to get a grip on the crisis which is seeing record numbers of infections and deaths in recent weeks.

Private gyms, recreational halls and swimming pools will be closed from tonight until June 10.

Attendance at government offices will be reduced to 70 per cent while remote learning will continue at schools.

All malls and commercial activities will be closed and all services will be limited to delivery only.
Salons and barber shops will be closed.

Hypermarkets, supermarkets, cold stores, groceries, fish shops, bakery, gas stations, private hospital and ATMs will however remain open.
