New initiative for women

MANAMA: The second edition of the national guidance programme for Bahraini women, “e-guidance”, has been launched.

The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) announced the new edition will focus on present and future considerations and labour market requirements while fighting the Covid-19 virus.

The move aims to provide female retirees, jobseekers, graduates and entrepreneurs with the latest information and developments through interactive workshops that present the most important theoretical and professional knowledge, skills and experiences in light of the current circumstances.

“The programme seeks to sustain women’s contribution to the national economy in line with the current circumstances, continue to implement the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women initiative and contribute to the implementation of the National Gender Equality Initiative Programmess in Future Sciences,” said SCW assistant secretary general Shaikha Dina bint Rashid Al Khalifa.

“It also aims to enhance Bahraini women’s access to digital applications and websites in order to diversify and increase their sources of income and reduce the number of female jobseekers by encouraging women to move towards non-traditional jobs and flexible work opportunities, and encourage innovative digital entrepreneurship projects.”

She said the new edition follows the increasing number of applicants wishing to join the programme to benefit from its services.

It also comes as the current health crisis has given institutions and individuals the opportunity to experiment and apply virtual business and rely more on digital technologies to continue business and perform tasks.
